Discipleship Minister
Full-Time Position
Goal of this position
Intentionally direct and oversee disciplemaking at RCC. This will include but not be limited to Bible Classes, Small groups, equipping mentors, and individual Bible studies.
Personal Development Opportunities
• Attend one ministry conference per year with all associated costs covered. (must be approved by the Senior Minister and Elders and fit within allotted budget)
• All members of RCC are eligible to apply for a $2,000 scholarship each year if pursuing education related to ministry.
Personal Qualifications
• Bible/Ministry/Theology or related degree preferred
• Must have energy and be passionate about the gospel and ministry
• Must be self-motivated and organized - as well as a “team” oriented person
• Must have the ability to equip, motivate, and encourage church members of all ages to grow in their faith
• Ability to maintain confidences concerning congregational matters and finances
Summary of Responsibilities
Diplomacy
• Maintain a good working relationship with leaders of the church (Elders, Deacons, Senior Minister, Ministry Team Leaders, and ministry staff)
• This position is supervised by the Senior Minister
Education
• Lead/teach a Bible class each week either as a part of either Sunday School or on a weekday evening
• Establish and oversee small groups
o Equip Small group Leaders
o Work in conjunction with the Senior Minister on Small group curriculum/teaching/discussion plans
o Be actively engaged/lead a small group
• Oversee and coordinate Sunday School Curriculums with the various Sunday School teachers
• Preach the Word as a part of Sunday Morning Worship as needed.
o Four Sundays each year is the expectation with additional preaching opportunities possible through special services (Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday…etc.)
Evangelism / Community
• Incorporate outreach events into regular programming in conjunction with Senior Minister and Children’s Director
• Be actively involved in the local school (North Putnam) thru FCA and the annual baccalaureate service or other opportunities to share the gospel
Pastoral Care
• Assist with home visits as needed alongside Elders, Deacons, and Senior Minister
• Assist with funerals and weddings as needed alongside Senior Minister
• Contact/visit visitors and new families alongside Senior Minister
• Communicate personal availability to the church family
Administration & Supervision
• Utilize technology, social media, weekly bulletin, bulletin boards, OneChurch, calendars, RCC website…etc. to keep parents, youth, and congregants informed of current and upcoming discipleship events and programming alongside Admin. Asst., Children’s director, and Senior Minister
• Intentionally align programming and events with church vision, mission, and core values
• Attend all relevant meetings (staff, elders,…etc.)
• The discipleship minister is a part of the Admin Team (staff) and may have some additional administrative duties
• Must be proficient in technology
Compensation
• Salary – commensurate with experience
• Two weeks of paid time off with bereavement and parental leave separately
• Passes/tickets for local school events will be provided
• Health Insurance and retirement are not provided
